The original Janet wouldn’t kiss the woman playing Frank, whose name was Leslie. ![]() Furter and when I was replaced by a woman in lingerie, as opposed to a guy in drag, I played Janet for a while. I performed in a Friday night cast 72 times from when I was 15 to when I was 17. Figured I was a natch, had the same hair as Tim Curry and did his voice in a passable mimic, not that I’d need it. ![]() I saw it in the movies and on HBO about five times before I couldn’t take it anymore and troweled makeup on, ripped up some fishnet stockings and took to a stage myself. I hope I was able to do that.I have watched, well, not exactly watched, but experienced The Rocky Horror Picture Showover 100 times. Thanks for reading! This one was longer than my other RHPS bits, but I really wanted to take some time to explore Eddie’s role and his back-story. So, who is Eddie? He is a bisexual ex-delivery boy, a low-down cheap little punk, a harbinger of pure and rockin’ chaos, a lynchpin of the plot, and a significant factor in multiple character arcs. Scott–another outside, threatening, chaotic force–to the castle, and his death provides the justification for Riff Raff and Magenta’s seizure of the castle and Frank’s execution. Frank kills Eddie to regain power of the situation.Įddie additionally, though indirectly, brings Dr. When he accidentally revives Eddie when Rocky is born, Eddie brings chaos to a situation in which Frank was supposed to be in complete control. He uses Eddie’s brain as a way of punishing him, and also as a way of reasserting control over him, and throws his body in the freezer. So, to summarize: Frank and Columbia we’re lovers Frank dumped Columbia for Eddie, and then Eddie started a relationship with Columbia, at which point Frank, having lost control of Eddie and lost two lovers at once, decides to make the perfect man. What form does his vengeance take? Well, let’s look at the facts: (1) Frank goes to great lengths to create Rocky, (2) Eddie is in a freezer, (3) Eddie has a fresh cut on his forehead and one black eye, and (4) Frank laments to Magenta and Riff Raff, “Rocky’s behaving just the way Eddie did… Do you think I made a mistake, splitting his brain between the two of them?” To put it bluntly: Frank took half of Eddie’s brain for Rocky. So, we can guess: Frank dumps Columbia for Eddie, Eddie dumps Frank for Columbia, Frank seeks revenge and a new lover. So, Columbia and Eddie had both been in a relationship with Frank, one after the other, and then began a relationship with each other. We also know, thanks to the lyrics of “Eddie (’s Teddy),” that Eddie and Columbia were in a relationship at the time of his death. Scott was well aware that, “He had fallen in with a bad crowd.” Columbia implies that Eddie had a relationship with Frank: “First you spurn me for Eddie!” Franks’s comments to Rocky corroborate this: “He had a certain naive charm.” We also know that he was involved with Frank’s crowd willingly and for some time. But, what is Eddie doing in the castle in the first place? We can assume that he first found his way to the castle either as a delivery boy–after all, the credits think it is awfully important that we know that he was one– or, like Columbia, because of a guy with “a pickup truck and the Devil’s eye.” Scott shows up looking for him in the second act. Originally posted by thecinemastrikesback I mean, he’s on-screen a total of like three and a half minutes, so picking up on his exact back-story takes a little bit of active listening. Ask any given first-timer, and all they could likely tell you about Eddie is that he is an ex-delivery boy, he has a thing for Columbia, he doesn’t get along with Frank, and that Dr.
